Hi, thanks for subscribing to my blog. You are very creative. I look forward to checking out more of your work!
Thanks for your kind words. You make a good read yourself.
Thanks for your comment. I have scanned your cover page and enjoy your flow of things. I am going to peruse at better length soon. I am just getting better hang of this community-through-tagging well thing. I’ve been fairly isolated on my little blog. again, thanks 🙂 it is nice to find people who are writers.
Thank you, philosophywithfries. Now that is a mouthfull! Philosophy-with-fries!
a little more info perhaps than was asked about, and i suppose i should TELL people this one day …
It’s from a song lyric:
“so what’s a world that likes a side of fries with its philosophy /
gonna offer me in times of bread and water
– when all the world has been poisoned, my friend …
and it’s our fault, our responsibility …?”
wHmmmm…. I guess that song gives credence to what some old greek thinker said about Philosophy being guide of life. Quite imaginative! I’m a combination of my initials Y.A.S. & the name of the river my country is Christened after; NIGER…. YASNIGER!
Thanks for liking my post on the Very Inspiring Blogger Award. I’ve often wished I could write poetry so I’m envious, and appreciative, of your work.
Take care,
Dwayne
Not to sound modest, but you’ve got good poetry in you too. Thanks for you kind words!

the story about the girl who has the world to call her own. yet waits endlessly fruitlessly in desolate lonely place for a lover who never arrives is supurb. could one ever have it all!
Glad you liked it. It is one of my oldest & I based most of it from personal experiences. Thanks for your kind words.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. Love your complexity:) My favorite prose to write is poetry so I have a fondness for the very original or dark (that’s what I typically write). You are very creative and hope you will find my blog an inspiration as you evolve as an artist!
Poetry is inspirational and it captivates the imagination. It is always a pleasure to converse and interact with people who share my passion for writing. Thank you for your kind words. You encourage me further. I’ll certainly let you know my views on your blog soon. Stay in touch. Cheers!.

Dear reader,
This is a late “Thank You Note” -as I have been very busy lately-for your having taken the time to appreciate my writing post.
May your writing make a better person out of you.
Sam.
https://sam1000000.wordpress.com.
And this is An Early Thank You!
It is coincidentally very timely too! I just went through a very horrid experience in a matter of two days & came out of it remarkably well. I was robbed of my laptop with all my work in it, lost my phone with all my numbers in it as well & I had to tow a friends car I borrowed. All on the first day! Second day was spent trying to get the car fixed, get a new phone fitted & a new laptop connected on-line while nursing the most painful tooth & headache ever. I SURVIVED feeling dejected, washed up & totally spent!!! So I re-read my Breast Of Doom from my blog on-line & felt lucky. Yes! May my writing make a better person of me…. Amen to THAT. Oh Say it Again, Sam. Thank you Sir!
love the title Breast of Doom; thanks for liking Sorry Gnat; will be reading you; regards of the best kind
Thanks sorrygnat. Your post made an interesting read too!
Thanks for visiting my blog “Eyes to Heart” and liking my post “A Mini Trip …” … The most important thing is to be true to your own voice. … Be well, Dorothy 🙂
No doubt about it, the worst lies are those ones we tell ourselves. Thanks for commenting Dorothy.
Thank you a hundred times for stopping by and visiting my blog, for it has allowed me to become a follower of yours! I have thoroughly enjoyed what I have read so far, and anticipate even more.
Rhonda
Rhonda, I just replied your comment on my post… & I feel you have a story to tell too; your referring to a similar history to the tale in my story hinted of that. I`m delighted to have you following my blog. Cheers!
I am delighted also. I think the fact that I am an ‘old soul’ is likely the reason I was chosen to curate the history of my family. Perhaps there is a touch of the “old woman” in me…I do not know. I use the sense of ‘closeness’ with my ancestors as a bridge to keep my family connected. One day, perhaps, I will be able to go to that place where I can “be” with them and start to share that in such a way that the family can feel it the way I do and I can only hope to express it the way you have.
My uncle just self-published his authobiography & though it doesn`t go beyond my grandfather, it still reads like someone elses history not mine. He is only the 2nd oldest person still alive in our family. He did justice to the story & we`re very appreciative of what he had done. I`m certain your family will warm on it.
You could perhaps take a page from your Uncle’s book…go beyond the Grandfather…hopefully to reach the point where the history “is yours”. There are many that were not there…but that does not mean we “were not there”! I know it is a lifelong pursuit, and one must be willing to lose oneself in the process, but it’s really an amazing journey.
R
Oh I have every intention of doing just that. Like you rightly said, it is a life long activity & I have to make a thorough job of it to. I am looking forward to it.
That’s good to hear. Best of luck in your journey!
Thank you. I am kind of concerned with the way it will go down with the rest of the family. You see my uncle had obviously concentrated on his activities, it being his autobiography & all, as such he mainly wrote about aspects of our family history that concerned him & his branch off the family! I would want to do a more wholistic take on the family history & I worry that it would be construed as merely sounding off my own branch of the family; besides I will really hope my true intentions are not that selfish. What do you think Rhonda
As one who has already begun this journey I can say this…you will find that some of your family members may bristle at the idea of putting it all out there, will want to control certain aspects, want something included or excluded. Don’t get caught up in any of it. As you go along, and have a clear path in your mind of how you want to proceed…do it. If you have the information you need without going to others, that’s fine. Follow your path and when you come to the here and now and that part of the journey is finished, sit with your family and explain that nothing, absolutely nothing, you have put to paper was intended to hurt….only to document so we don’t forget and so we appreciate where we come from. Show them your heart and in doing so, they may show you theirs. As to the “one sided” nature of things…we can only do what we can do. I, like you, dealt with the “house of my mother”. That doesn’t mean I don’t think my father’s side has less value…I just had more information to use from the other side. There is nothing selfish about what you are doing! Remember why you are doing it. Does that help?
It does! A whole lot too! Well like i said, that is all for the future but I intend to start off now, feeling out & getting material from others without letting out what its about. Good thing my blog is under an Alias…. eh! So I will make out to be discussing my uncle`s work; it only just got published early this year. Its 740 pages long & I only just finished reading it myself. So I know a whole lot of the family are yet to be done with it. It is the perfect setting, I will seek opinions in conversations & ask questions for clarity, demand indept explainations & further insight or details for aspects ignored or not thoroughly explored in my uncle`s effort. Thanks for doing this Rhonda
You are very welcome. It’s a huge undertaking, but I think you will get so much out of it…and so will your family. Use the web as much as you can, this is the information age and there is tons of THAT stuff out there! 🙂 If you ever feel overwhelmed…walk away from it for a bit, then go back to it. Don’t give up. All the best!
I am indeed glad I foind you… Thanks Rhonda! Take care of you
It’s mutual!
Thanks for the follow! I look forward to reading your work.
Thanks for showing interest in what I put out. I sincerely hope you
continue to find my works entertaining & pleasurable. Please invite
others too. Be safe
Hi Yas, thank you so much for taking the time read my work and follow it. I hope to read more of your own writing, as well!
I was happy with what I saw, thanks for having me Daphane
Thanks for taking time out of your busy life to visit mine Yasniger. I am always happy to see your face on my page. Thanks for liking my latest posts…how are you doing? I think of you often.
Rhonda
As do I of you, odd eh! I put on the computer & first thing today, I sought you out….. So saved anyone recently…….
As it happen, I did have one very healthy conversation. I think the two of you should meet. Different dilemmas, but perhaps kindred souls. If you are intrigued, let me know and I shall introduce you two. So glad you are here.
R
`Different dilemmas` ~ hmmmm sounds poetic already! Just kidding. Sure….certainly! But only if this person wants to hook up too & it would be nice if you could tag along too. Looking forward to it already.
It’s funny, I really don’t know what it is about the two of you…there really is not connection that is obvious. It’s just a strange feeling I have. You live in different countries, you are searching for your past; he is trying to leave his behind. His love of music motivates him to leave a legacy to his son; your love of the written word motivates you to find the legacy that was left to you. So you see, it’s not an obvious connection…but I do have a feeling. Can’t explain, can’t say I’m always right, but I know that I think of you when I have contact with him. Odd, but there it is. I would invite you peruse his site first, and allow you to decide if you think it something worth your while. Also, just so you know, I connected with him through my other blog, Boys To Men, not Help Me Rhonda. Just thought you should know our connection. He found me through a post I did on bullying, as he was a victim in his youth, and we went from there. Am I strange or what? 🙂
Rhonda
Boys to Men, what a perfect coinage for our friendship it will be! I will look it up & find this (nameless) Chap who loves music & wants to leave some to his son but not his past, which he wants to leave behind., Cheers
I’m sorry, I did forget to leave you that piece of information! His site is
http://thelastsongiheard.wordpress.com/
If you feel inclined.
Always, R
I will look him up, really! Thanks for doing this
My pleasure
Glad to see you friend. Hope my little ant and 3 men saga bring a smile to your day. Hope you are well.
Rhonda
It did! Caught it earlier on & shared it with my visiting teenage niece. She was all…., Oh We Brainy Women!….. naturaly ….. & I was like…. Rubbish! Its a woman telling the story. So we ended up with me….hopelessly, trying to tell a different (Pro Male) version of the story to fit the pictures. We had fun at it! It is always fun to have her over. I had a wonderful evening with her as always.
Looked up you Musical buddy. Very colourful site he has there & his knowledge of music is breath taking. I am sort of a music fan myself! It would be nice to link up with him sometime; probabily on your blog. I am having a hard time finding your other blog…. Boys to men! Send a link, if you please. Cheers
That is so great about you and your niece making up your own story from a man’s perspective! I can only imagine. Tell her to always believe women are naturally brainy (even if YOU don’t believe it). It will keep her from ending up with someone who doesn’t appreciate such things.
I agree with you on Mr. Barlett’s knowledge of music. i thought music was a huge part of my life…seems nothing compared to his. There is a link to my other blog through my gravitar…but here it is for you: http://boys-to-men.net/
It has been terribly neglected lately, I had such good intentions when I began it. I will return to it in the near future…it is something I feel strongly about, just need to find whatever it is I need to jump back in. Glad you stopped in to chat, always look forward to it.
Rhonda
Will always have time to chat…… might be late, but always! My niece is delightful & I am very hopeful she will fulfill the promise she radiates. Thanks for keeping in touch. Nice of you.
Amazing, someone who lives in Africa, sticking his nose in American politics, and being an ignorant racist to boot. I am not surprised you are in Africa spewing racist ideas about our Black American President….this from a country who elected Frederik Willem de Klerk. As Minister of National Education, de Klerk was a supporter of segregated universities, and as a leader of the National Party in Transvaal, he was not known to advocate reform.
And you had the nerve to accuse POTUS Obama of being a person with no morals and changing sides to be politically acceptable?
What a fuckin joke you are.
Look who is here….. surprise! Firstly, welcome & do feel free to say any thrashy unpleasantries here because nobody will mind. I will not thrash your comments, I will be honoured to have you querying my efforts.
That said….Now you do have a map or an atlas or one of those round blue globes that spins round & round! Look for the motherland AFRICA (Basic junior high stuff really) Look to the west of the middle of the continient, look for NIGERIA. Ah…. thats where I am, not South Africa. The last white man to hold public office here was in the 1960s, when the British ruled our shores. How are you doing!
Hey YAS, good to see you. Glad you liked my little shower scene. But it’s TRUE! 🙂
Hi Rhonda, I just commented on your little shower post & now that I know your mother reads our comments too….. I WILL REMEMBER TO BEHAVE! (Laughs)
LOL…not too worry. I’ve shocked her enough in my life, she will survive!
OH my GOD….. Now she is definately reading intensely
She will survive alright…. Funny!
Listen, for all I know, she still enjoys a ‘good shower’! OMG, did I just say that about my mother? LOL
I didnt read whatever you just wrote……. these busted computers go blank sometime for no reason at all…..so you were saying
I can not tell if you are being serious or not. LOL
That is the idea…….. OMG! I didnt just admit to hearing you say your (Mum enjoys a good shower)!
Now do you know if I`m serious….. naughty Naughty
lol…ok. I usually don’t need an explanation for humor, but I guess throwing mother in the mix…mixed me up! lol
It is a strange thing isn`t it….. I have always marveled at how easily a miscontrued cherry joke can as easily be considered offensive
I know right? Some people need to learn the art of the “double entrendre” which are my favorites. (just, apparently not when my mother is thrown in the mix). haha.
You got that right! Ordinarily, I would have been a lot more uncomfortable when you brought your mother into the mix; its an African thing!
But I had a lot of practice from The overwhelming Western Culture influence TV, book & the internet mainly, has exposed my own culture to in these more modern times.
Busy day, My kid sister (Fully Grown woman but kid to me) is moving out of my place and into her new place tomorrow morning & like in your little picture story & because I am the only guy in house, I get to do most of the heavy lifting, My delightful niece (Her daughter) is enjoying herself trying to be you! It is not so funny for me today. Tomorrow promises to be tough.
I have all the faith that you will be the best burden baring brother known to sisterhood. Extend an invite to your niece to reach out and chat with me any time she feels the need to engage in smart conversation with a “woman” as opposed to an “uncle”!!! Best of luck tomorrow…don’t strain anything!
R
You never know with teenagers, do you? Hope have some of yours because this might burst your bubbles. I showed my niece your ‘invite’ & she shunned it with an outright “I won’t be caught dead with that oldies stuff!” Ha! So much for ‘Smart Women Conversation’. Sorry about that! But she is a good girl really! I guess the strain of all the moving work got to her. I did catch her joking with their new neighbour’s cute son about me having my “nose stuck in a phone romance.” I whistled by like a deaf mute but she sensed I heard & in a sort of apologetic rethink she offered me a piece of chicken extra at lunch & actually pointed out that she’s certain you’re using a Black Berry too & we could chat that way too! Now if by any chance that is true, then this is an invite too!
Fear not YAS, I raised 2 sons, both in their 20’s now, so totally get the ‘teenage’ thing. Though I do think girls tongue’s are a bit sharper and better pointed than boys at that age. It’ll serve her well later in life if she uses it wisely. That she will learn how to do with time.
As to the Black Berry….you can tell her “this oldie” has no hand held device in her possession that is smarter than she is! I use my laptop almost exclusively, or in conjunction w/my desktop.if I’m multi-tasking. If that precludes me from the list of ‘phone buddies’, then I’m sorry I haven’t learned to be smarter than the smart phone to date!
Oh My God…. She did it again, somehow. Each time I give a message on behalf of this niece of mine (who is my tenth by the way), it always somehow ends with me being stuck right in the middle! So you’ll understand if I’m not going through that anymore. You got the girlie sharper tongue part right though. You know, this one has a tongue thrice as sharp as her mind, & she’s got a working brain on her! She’s the complete opposite of her mama, who is the withdrawn sort but firm to granite levels when called upon! Too bad she gets taken advantage of too often, the experience has made her more independent & I’m proud of that! So you’ve two twenty year olds; boys eh? That must’ve been a handful down the lane! I’ve one twenty+ boy; well man, he just became a dad under those sort of unplanned circumstances but its delightful to watch him take it in his strides, man up & not get derailed. I’m a proud granny! Oh & I’m just getting used to the Smart phone thing, I still favour my laptop any day! Cheers Rhonda, it always a delight
For me also! Granny???? Sorry, but I thought you were Male? lol
My sons are 28 and 24 and I became a granny (gammie actually) 2 years ago. Love the little dude to death, though I don’t see him nearly enough. They live about 400 miles away and it’s very difficult.
Don’t fear my friend…I will never put you IN THE MIDDLE…my philosophy has always been such that whatever I have to say I say to the person I want to say it to and expect the same. I would never allow you to be in the middle. Hence, she should have taken you up on reaching out to me herself…but that’s a teenage thing.
Hope all is well, you didn’t hurt yourself moving your sis, and we’ll talk soon, I’m sure!
Always…Rhonda
Well sorry about that, I can imagine your surprise! Must have ran a number of possibilities in you smart head….. pondering if I am a guy or a lady; hmmmmm! (I am enjoying this); sorry but its nothing as exciting dramatic as a `sex change`! You were not that imaginative, were you> Now you could be right …. But it wasn`t a typo or a mistake.
OK suspense over!
I AM A MAN of course! Its a silly African pidgin English thing…. we really dont bother with a masculine or feminine noun most times when we speak this vertion of adultrated English, not like the American Slang. So we might use Granny interchangebly, regardless of the gender!
My grandson is the cutest. You guessed he is my first by now. He is ADORABLE, with puffy cheeks & a ill formed smile to melt the grouchiest orge`s heart.
Such a sweet description of your grandson, I can picture him now. Mine also, had to grow into his cheeks. His eyes are actually the picture in my header on Boys To Men. I melt when I look at them.
Interesting about the lack of gender qualification when you all use the term granny. I never knew this was done anywhere. Typically American of us to add more unnecessary words to our already crazy language. We have rules for the rules and exceptions to the exceptions. It’s nuts.
I really didn’t think you were female…just thought it was a typo. I did remember seeing your description on your profile as male. I’m glad 🙂
Hi Rhonda, took my time getting bact to you didnt I….. It was one hectic weeked, believe me. Glad to see the end of it, its been all work & no play. This Jack is gonna be Dull for a long while.
I expected you thought the granny bit was a typo really….just wanted to be funny. Oh I keep forgetting to point out…. Yasniger is an alias! I suppose you have gathered that much out already. It is a combination of my initials Y.A.S. & the name of the longest of two rivers that cut right through my country Nigeria. River is called Niger & (You guessed it) my country is named after it.
1st october, 1960 isn`t my birthday but the official independence date of my country. I am appreciative that you respect my need to maintain an abscure identity. Bare with me in this regard.
You are so much more than the description on your bio. I knew the Y.A.S. initial thing…that was mentioned somewhere, as was the Niger River. I care not who what where or why. I just know that I am happy you decided to follow my journey so I could follow yours, and make friends while we are at it!! It’s a beautiful, sunny, love filled day here and I wish for you to have a day just like it…….soon!
R

Hey – just messaging to make you aware of my competition, I really value everyone who decided to follow my blog (there may be one or two I fear who just spilt coffee on themselves and accidentally clicked the button.. but I’m still taking it as a win). I need help deciding which poems to perform in the next month or two and I’d really value your opinion.
Stay Well – Mart
I didn’t follow you by mistake, I assure you. Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha…
So you want me to pick my best poem from amongst your lot then? Okay, I wont rush it.
But you’re aware some really good poems just don’t do appear so when read out loud? So I’ll need to be listening to them being read out too…
Hmmm, I will get some help. You’ll certainly hear from me.
Till then cheers.
That’s very generous thank you very much, I have shortlisted and edited 14 that I am happiest with performing that i’m trying to whittle down to four or five. Here is the link if you need it – stay well,

You know what, once I read somebody intends to write differently to me that means his or her uniqueness and without regard towards what others might think, since you did say bias, and to me it says that you write what you love to write about and I like that, you are one person I wouldn´t mind to go on the ride with in your blog. So I´m glad you stumbled upon my little crazy blog, and if you don`t mind I´ll become your new stalker dropping by once in a while.
Lovely!

Hello. I have nominated you for the One Lovely Blog award.
https://blackhatwriter.wordpress.com/2015/01/30/one-lovely-blog-award/
Thank you. Most kind of you
It is good to have found your work. In 1983-84 I was in Zimbabwe just after the revolution and its transition into the current government. I was 19 years old and innocent to some degree. I am glad of that. I drilled water wells and lived in the bush with the folks there. I was raised in a rural southern sate in the USA. It was a formative experience for me and set many of my opinions about the family of man. Africa taught me many things but the most profound is that the good and the evil of humanity is common across all race, cultures, and traditions. That if we look past the surface differences we are or at least can be one. Good Journey!
That is a very interesting life you have had so far, my friend. I find some similarities with mine. I have tried channeled most of my misgivings, lessons and achievements through my writings, especially my poetry. It gives me lots of joy to see that my efforts touch people & encourage them to talk about their own experiences. Thank you for comment.
The people told me Africa would always be in my soul. They were right.
That is a fact. You may leave Africa but it stays with you
I am glad for it. There is life there that can not be described. It must be felt and breathed and lived to know.
Hi Yas! Thank you for liking my blogging 101 assignment. It is lovely to meet another African with similar views on simplicity in poetry and social commentary
